Barry Allen has just lost his Harrison and Cisco original cast members Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes leave the CW series The Lightning. The show that followed Grant GustinBarry Allen through multiple universes and iconic Flash storylines was recently extended for an eighth season, but both Cavanagh (who has played multiple characters throughout the series, as well as the Reverse Flash) and Valdes will no longer join him.

According to Deadline, Cavanagh closed his story on the third episode of season 7 titled “Mother” and stayed on as a recurring guest star for the remainder of the season. With Valdes leaving and leaving the show, the original cast of the hit show will be reduced to four.

Executive producer and showrunner Eric Wallace I had the following to say about her departure in a statement on Deadline: “Tom and Carlos have been an integral part of our show for seven seasons and are very much missed. Both are incredible talents who created beloved characters that fans and audiences around the world have come to love. For this reason, we are happy to keep the door open for return appearances. ”

The original cast still on the show are Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, and Jesse L. Martin. Gustin is already signed for season eight and will return as Barry Allen while the other three are in new negotiations to return to the show. It’s bittersweet for fans of the series to know that there are only four of the remaining teams left. Sure, it’s not the end for Wells and Valdes, but it’s still not the same show that started back in 2014.

Who knows what the future holds for Barry Allen, Iris West and the other members of Team Flash at STAR Labs, but at least it doesn’t seem like the door is completely closed for Cavanagh or Valdes.
