Lil Wayne has been sued by his former managers Ronald Sweeney and Avant-garde Management for more than $ 20 million.
The lawsuit alleges Sweeney and Avantgarde filed over 30 lawsuits for Wayne and "received very little compensation" for their work. They claim that Wayne failed to pay the promised 10% of lawsuits recovery, 10% of master recordings sales, and 17% of overall management commissions.
Sweeney says he was hired by Wayne around 2005. When it became known in 2018 that Lil Wayne, Birdman and Cash Money had reached an agreement that ultimately resulted in the delayed release of Tha Carter V, Sweeney made a public statement on Wayne's name. "I can say that my customer is happy," Sweeney said at the time. "He's his own man, a man who owns his fortune, his music and himself."
