Disney announced that Hocus pocus 2 officially happened. The original 1993 film was not a hit when it hit theaters, but quickly became a cult classic thanks to performances by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, who together make up the Sanderson Sisters. As of this writing, not all three original actresses have officially signed up for the sequel, though they have all expressed excitement over the opportunity to come back to repeat their roles.

Bette Midler: "They gave us an overview and after we got up off the floor because it was 247 years ago we looked at that and I think we all agreed that it was pretty great." While they all think it would be pretty awesome, Disney didn't confirm their attendance during their mammoth Investor Day presentation today. The writer of the original film, Mick Garris, has expressed enthusiasm for bringing the Sanderson Sisters back together as well.
In an interview with ComicBook, Mick Garris said, "I'm excited about (the sequel), but I really think the main reason the film worked was because of the Sanderson Sisters, those actresses in those roles, those performances that I did for they hold the keys to the long life of this film. "It's a feeling that many fans share and everyone hopes that Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy will return.
While Bette Midler said: "They want to make a film, they asked us if we were interested and of course we all said yes … I am a game, I am a total game." We're still awaiting official confirmation from Disney which appears to be a topic with other announcements made today. With that said, the cast recently reunited. "It was so bizarre to have been these characters 27 years ago," said Midler when speaking with Sarah Jessica Parker and Katherine Najimy about the reunion. "And putting on all that gear … it was so bizarre because we got into the exact same relationship and style on screen that we had 27 years ago. Like we've been away for a weekend!" "
Adam Shankman will direct Hocus Pocus 2 while Workaholics co-producer and writer Jen D & # 39; Angelo will write. We're still waiting to see who will star in the sequel, but we should find out soon. The original director Kenny Ortega won't be involved, but he has no ill will. "It seems like there is a sequel in development and it looks like it will be done with a different director," he said. "I wish everyone the best of luck in the world. Whichever way they go on, I hope it is as fun and successful for them as it is for us."
