Good Girls Recap: Has Beth just promoted herself as a criminal?

The more Beth Boland wants out, the deeper she will be drawn in.

While Dean was still behind bars and the Secret Service breathed down her throat, the episode of Good Girls on Sunday Beth plunged deeper into the criminal world when she – forcibly – took on the mysterious role of the “banker”. Will this woman ever take a break? Let’s be real: Probably not.

Elsewhere in the episode, Annie took on a new shape as she vied for babysitter of the year. (Yeah, that didn’t end well either.) Let’s wrap up all of the shebang from above, shall we?

After Agents Phoebe and Dave put a tracker on Rio’s car, they wire up Beth so they can hear their next exchange with the crime boss. When he doesn’t show up for their scheduled meeting, Beth panics and worries that Rio might be there for her. “At least I want my husband out!” She screams. Dave refuses. Only when they know where the money is going, he says.

When Nancy is in trouble, Annie offers to babysit Dakota. If only Nance knew where her baby would end up … but more on that in a second.

Ruby hits the club to get Stan some chimichurri sauce (strange but okay) and finds he’s MIA. She calls him to say she’s delivering it and catches him in a lie when he tells her he has already eaten. Little does he know, Ruby watches his colleague pull down his meatloaf. Stan is actually on the run with his boss, and while he’s talking we see a man gagged and handcuffed in his back seat.

Rio finally visits Beth and when she asks him where he is, he silences her and unbuttons her blouse. This isn’t a loot call, however, and luckily for Beth, it’s wireless … this time. She takes off her bra and he beckons her to continue undressing. She does. He places the pursuer he has found on her desk and tells her to look back. Your guess was correct: he knows something is going on.

Mick visits the ladies and tells Beth to get into his car. When Beth says she can’t go with him because of the baby, he doesn’t mind. (Surprisingly, he’s very good with babies! Who would have thought that?) When Ruby is quick to fit the car seat into his truck, he asks the ladies, “You all know we use a baby as a human shield?” Oh we know

They arrive at a mysterious place and Mick gives Beth a bag and a gun. “You are the banker,” he tells her. Beth follows him behind a shaded door with graffiti tags into a dark warehouse. She walks nervously through the dark corridors when a mysterious man loads a clip into another room. She enters an office and finds a cheerful looking older man.

Beth returns to the car with a bag full of cash, but this isn’t her only job for the day. “The Banker” hits several stops and collects cash at each location. Her confidence snowballs until she meets a lively young woman whose sick mother is not there. The woman, who seems to be losing her luck, has no idea what Beth is talking about, but when Beth returns to the car she says to Mick: “Everything is there.” Is it anyway?

Ruby rummages through Stan’s belongings for evidence of infidelity and finds keys to a car she doesn’t recognize. She checks the trunk and finds designer handbags. Ruby confronts her husband, leading Stan to drop a massive truth bomb. “You can’t just take from a man like him,” he says, admitting he’s still paying off her debt to Gene.

Beth returns to visit the woman she couldn’t shake off and puts a gun on the table. She tells her to take care of her back and gives her a heads up that someone else will likely pick up. And so on.

When Nancy picks up Dakota, she’s mad to see the baby has a diaper rash. She says it is her own fault to leave “a child with a child” behind, but she really wanted to say, “Thank you Annie for helping me out of a traffic jam today!” Annie can be difficult to sympathize with, when so much of her struggle is from her own doing, but it’s a bummer to see her kicked while downstairs trying to do good.

In a restaurant, Beth watches Phoebe and Dave come through the door just as Rio jumps into the cabin across from her. He asks if she has anything to say to him, but she refuses, saying she is glad her banker side gig is over. “Oh darling, we’re just getting started,” he says. It’s time for him to calm down, and while he does, Beth will be the new face of the operation.

Rio then reveals that he also answers the people and “they will want to meet you”. He leaves and Beth turns to the cabin behind her where Dave and Phoebe are sitting. “He has a boss!” she says with a smile. With that, Dean is finally released from prison.
